Spa Week Daily & Yogi Elena Brower have issues a challenge – can you stop everything, sit and breathe for five minutes every day?

Somehow, this challenge spoke to me. I have been trying to make a conscious effort to breathe deeply. I’m a stress monger and find I take short, rapid breaths in my attempts to keep moving and get everything accomplished. I have let it get so bad that I have an ache around my middle.

It’s hard to stop and take those deep, healing breaths.

Here’s what you need to do – pledge to breathe consciously for 5 minutes a day every day for 2 weeks. Sit by yourself and listen to your inner talk. Breathe without judgement in no special place and at no special time.

Elena’s breathing tips:

TIP 1: Oxygenate as much as possible, breathing through your nose as much as you can, as that cleanses the breath most efficiently and leaves you with the gold.

TIP 2: Particularly when you’re feeling sad-mad-tense-scared-doubtful, breathe fully into your belly until you feel more settled in your heart and your mind.

The official 2 week challenge began Aug. 11th but in my normal functions of running behind while trying to keep up, I’m a week behind. The important thing is not when you start this but that you start it. I’m starting today.
